Boone County Marriage Licenses

Boone County marriage license records are handled by the Boone County Clerk, not by the Circuit Court Clerk. The official Boone County Clerk marriage license page places marriage licensing with the Real Estate Department at the Burlington office. The clerk's separate role matters because Kentucky court records, divorce cases, probate files, and traffic cases go to the Boone County Circuit Court Clerk, while marriage licenses and recorded county documents stay with the County Clerk.

Marriage applicants complete the Marriage License Application for both parties and bring it to the Real Estate Department during normal business hours. No appointment is required by the clerk's instructions. Both parties must be present, both must show valid identification, and the license must be used in Kentucky. The Boone County Clerk also states that the license is valid for 30 days from issuance and is non-refundable after the fee is paid.

Boone County Marriage Requirements

For Boone County marriage records, the most important application rule is joint appearance. The clerk requires both parties to be present when applying. Each person must present valid identification. The accepted ID list in the research includes any state driver's license or state picture ID, a certified United States birth certificate, or a passport, visa, or green card with a picture and English translation when needed.
