Boone County Traffic Court Routing
Boone County traffic cases are District Criminal matters when they involve traffic offenses, violations, misdemeanors, arraignments, or related preliminary criminal issues. The Boone District Criminal page describes District Court as "The People's Court" and lists city and county ordinances, misdemeanors, violations, traffic offenses, arraignments, preliminary probable-cause hearings, pretrial conferences, bench trials, and District jury trials.
District Criminal judges listed in the research are Judge Smith in Division 1 and Judge Thomas in Division 2. Citation search requires a four-character year, a seven-character control number, and a citation type from the listed numeric options. Case search requires county and case number. Traffic Court vs Driver Record
The court traffic record and Kentucky driver history record are separate files. Boone District Court and the Circuit Court Clerk handle the court case. KYTC maintains driver history records and license status. Paying, pleading, or being convicted in court can affect what later appears on a driver record, but the court file does not replace the state driver history.

Boone County Traffic DHR Fees
The Kentucky online DHR portal offers a three-year driver history record. The research says the online DHR contains driver status, license expiration date, driving restrictions, and traffic violations. It costs $3 per record plus a $3 electronic access fee online. The mail form TC 94-195 sends a completed request with $3 payment to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Vehicle Regulation, Division of Driver Licensing, in Frankfort.
Kentucky's point system is tied to convictions, not merely to a citation being issued. The KYTC point-system page says points expire two years from the conviction date, while the conviction entry remains on the driver record for five years from the conviction date. Boone traffic court records and KYTC driver records therefore need to be read together when points, license status, or a moving violation history matters.

Boone County FTA and Warrants
Failure to appear or failure to pay can create more than a balance due. Boone ePay and Bookkeeping rules warn that web payments must be made three business days before court and mail payments must be postmarked seven business days before court. If a payment or appearance deadline is missed, further court action may follow. A bench warrant, FTA entry, suspension consequence, or new court date may need confirmation through District Criminal or the Circuit Court Clerk.
Important: Paying an eligible amount through ePay does not always cancel a court date, FTA, or warrant.
DUI CDL and Expungement
DUI and other criminal traffic charges are not just payment matters. Boone District Criminal handles traffic offenses, misdemeanors, arraignments, and preliminary hearings, and serious criminal traffic cases can have criminal-case consequences. For broader charge, plea, disposition, and sentencing context, use Boone County criminal court records.
CDL holders should treat traffic citations with extra care because driver-history reporting and commercial-driving consequences can differ from ordinary payable tickets. The research does not provide a Boone-specific CDL diversion or defensive-driving program, so the safer official path is to verify with District Criminal, KYTC, or counsel before paying or contesting a CDL-related traffic case.
Expungement follows Kentucky and Boone clerk rules, not ePay rules. Boone's expungement material says DUI guilty plea expungement can be filed ten years from disposition date. It also notes some dismissed or diverted successful diversion cases and dismissed-with-prejudice or acquittal cases on or after July 15, 2020 are automatically expunged after 30 days, excluding traffic cases. Traffic-specific record clearing should be verified with the Circuit Court Clerk before relying on a public search result.
Public Access and Crash Reports
Kentucky court-record access is different from ordinary county open records because KRS 26A.200 places Court of Justice records under Supreme Court control. Court traffic case records therefore route through the Circuit Court Clerk and KYeCourts, while state driver records route through KYTC. Kentucky open-records law also supports public inspection unless an exception applies, but juvenile, mental-health, domestic-violence-sensitive, sealed, and expunged materials may be withheld.
Crash and wreck reports are not the same as Boone County traffic court records. The online Kentucky DHR does not contain crash information. The research also found current Florence Police Department app listings that advertise anonymous tips, local crime and safety alerts, copy of wreck report, department contact information, and crime maps. That Florence app is useful for Florence police crash or report functions, but it is not a Boone County court citation database.
